YOUTH LEADER JOB DESCRIPTION

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must be able to work afternoons or midnights and weekends
• Relate to youth in a mature manner
• Pass and sign-off on medications
• Thoroughly complete incident reports
• Perform fire drills
• Direct youth calmly, firmly and consistently according to Agency policy of discipline/restraint
• Provide good role modeling for youth
• Coordinate consequences with other staff in a consistent fashion
• Report restrictions to Group Home Supervisor so that they can be discussed and monitored at weekly meetings
• Be available and open for conversations with youth regarding their problems, concerns, and successes
• Provide any necessary independent living skills to youths
• Provide clean and neat surroundings for the youth
• Ensure that youth perform the tasks assigned to him/her
• A valid driver's license is preferred, as the role involves providing transportation as directed by the Executive Director
• Work cooperatively with assigned caseworkers
• Work cooperatively with schools, courts, and other agencies
• Take care of household supplies and appliances. Make sure that appliances are maintained and clean
• Clothes shopping for youth when needed
• Attend weekly change-of-shift meetings and monthly staff meetings
• Participate in youth's recreational activities
• Supervise youth taking medication during the distribution of medication, keep medical records, and set up doctor's appointments
• Fill out daily logs and incident reports
• Conduct fire drills monthly
• Conduct tornado drills twice a year
• Cook as needed
