Outreach & Prevention Specialist/Counselor Employment Type:
Full-Time Hours:
38 hours per week
Reports To:
Executive Director Position Summary ARCC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Outreach & Prevention Specialist/Counselor to support our public relations, community outreach, professional training, and prevention efforts related to sexual and domestic violence. This position plays an important role in educating the community, strengthening relationships with local organizations and service systems, and developing programs designed to prevent interpersonal violence. The Outreach & Prevention Specialist/Counselor will also provide counseling, advocacy, and other direct services to clients as needed to ensure continuity of care. Key Responsibilities Public Relations, Outreach & Professional Training Create and coordinate public service announcements (PSAs), press releases, social media content, and website content. Maintain ARCC's social media presence, including creating posts and responding to agency requests. Serve as a liaison with local agencies and organizations regarding ARCC services. Conduct community outreach and provide information and materials about ARCC services. Present general awareness programs to community organizations and groups as requested. Provide training to professionals, agencies, and other system representatives on interpersonal violence, violence prevention, and ARCC services. Prevention & Education Coordinate with schools, parent groups, agencies, clergy, youth organizations, and other community partners to offer prevention education programs and activities. Design, implement, and evaluate prevention education programs in coordination with the Executive Director. Develop and distribute community outreach and publicity materials under the direction of the Executive Director. Promote awareness and education regarding sexual and domestic violence and related victim issues. Counseling, Advocacy & General Duties Provide counseling, on-call services, and other direct client services as needed. Provide systems advocacy as required. Accurately enter educational and program-related documentation into ARCC databases. Attend staff meetings and participate as an active member of the ARCC team. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications The ideal candidate will demonstrate compassion, professionalism, strong communication skills, and a commitment to supporting survivors and preventing interpersonal violence.
Required qualifications include:
Two or more years of related experience in a human services field, college education, or relevant training. Ability to work effectively with others in a collaborative team environment. Commitment to ARCC's values, philosophy, and goals. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently as a self-starter. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Knowledge of and concern for issues affecting victims and survivors of interpersonal violence. Ability to relate to people in a non-judgmental, respectful, and compassionate manner. Intermediate computer and software skills. Ability to obtain and maintain all required clearances. ARCC counselor/advocate training is provided upon hire. Pay:
From $21.50 per hour Expected hours: 38.0 per week
