Job Description

Housing Specialist Location:
Eureka, CA About Us:
We are a dedicated community services organization committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness. Operating across three counties, we provide a compassionate bridge from life on the streets to the stability of a permanent home. Our mission is to meet individuals exactly where they are, offering a path forward through intensive support, resource navigation, and unwavering advocacy. We are looking for a Housing Specialist. We prefer an education and experience in Social Services, case management, or a related field with knowledge of Medi-Cal and low-income support programs. Familiarity with local community resources/service systems and a background in mental health or substance use disorder services is a plus.
Responsibilites include:
Conduct tenant screenings and housing assessments following DHCS guidelines, develop individualized housing support plans, document all assessments and plans according to requirements, accompany clients to appointments and housing viewings, complete housing applications and secure required documentation, assist with benefits advocacy, coordinate transportation for housing-related needs, conduct housing searches and present options to clients, identify and secure rent subsidies, source funding for deposits/moving costs, ensure living environments meet safety and readiness standards, coordinate all aspects of the move-in process, build and maintain relationships with local landlords/property owners/managers, develop housing support crisis plans for prevention and early intervention, establish support procedures for housing retention, implement early intervention strategies when housing is at risk.
Qualifications Required:
  • Demonstrated experience with housing services for vulnerable populations
  • Knowledge of DHCS Housing Transition Navigation Services requirements
  • Must familiarize with The Medi-Cal Community Supports Policy Guide on Housing Transition Navigation Services
  • Familiar with Harm Reduction, and Trauma-Informed Care approaches, and Motivational Interviewing.
  • Strong understanding of local housing markets and assistance programs
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to conduct housing unit inspections
  • Capability to assist with moving-related activities Regular local travel is required and field work/community engagement expected. Some evening and weekend availability will be needed. Full time- $23-$25 per hour
  • This is an in person position, remote/virtual work is not an option
