Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a per son to the role of peer support at our American Fork residential facility. Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm Please note: only those with clean legal backgrounds are encouraged to apply, to satisfy DHHS requirements to work with vulnerable adults. A full background check will conducted.
Primary Function of Position:
The primary role of the Peer Support is to support clients in their treatment by helping them achieve their personal recovery goals and lay the foundation for lifelong recovery. Your function is to be someone the clients can depend on, learn from and call their role model. You will achieve this by setting an exemplary personal example to clients and staff; treating all clients with dignity and respect no matter the circumstances; upholding the Liberty ethos of 'boundaries with compassion', and modeling compliance with house rules and respecting client rights. This will enable Liberty's clients to feel safe and enable them to heal mentally and emotionally and develop healthy coping skills while in treatment.
Responsibilities/Duties:
A Peer Support Specialist provides client support services under supervision of the House Manager. The Peer Specialist functions as a role model to peers; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of people skills, problems solving abilities and coping skills.
Specific job duties:
Understand & demonstrate competency after training by management in all key tasks including but not limited to Med pass, cpr cert, client rights, house rules, employee rules, client behavior management, UA policy and infection management Completes daily shift checklists during all scheduled shifts to ensure completion of Peer Support responsibilities. Model Liberty values of honesty, integrity, reliability, punctuality & clean speech Set exemplary personal examples to house clients and staff Gain & maintain rapport with each client, remembering to be friendly, but not their friend Ensures the physical and emotional safety of clients and the residential environment during all shifts. Immediately reports any concerns to their supervisor or House Manager Observe client self administration of medications and report any client attempts at medication diversion to the Medication Manager. Participates in controlled medication counts if required Trained in and completes client intake and orientation process, if required Teach and model problem solving techniques with clients. PS will appropriately share their own experiences and what skills, strengths, supports and resources they use. Assist clients to achieve recovery goals by encouraging them to follow their therapist & the program, specifically their Relapse Autopsy, the Steps & other assigned work Hold boundaries with compassion, explaining when necessary why the boundaries exist in a compassionate and respectful way Document group and individual client interaction in bestnotes while on shift Assist in any duties as required to ensure a stable, supportive residential environment. Assist same-sex clients with UA's as needed Attend staff meetings as required, clinical trainings and company trainings. Keep certifications (if held) in good standing Skills, Knowledge, and/or
Abilities:
Strong people skills in working as part of a team and maintaining cooperative relationships with clients, staff, and other agencies they interact with while employed Able to maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and staff Able to make sound judgments and problem solve Able to remain calm and respond well in a crisis situation. Ability to maintain confidentiality of clients in compliance with HIPAA Guidelines. Strong computer skills - able to use Best Notes & other programs as required Able to be punctual and reliable, always attentive to clients and staff responsibilities Specific Requirements Regarding Client Notes Document how clients participated, their struggles, challenges, moods etc while on shift Every client's notes must be specific to the client and be accurate The same notes cannot be copied across multiple clients Names of any individuals other than the client cannot be used in a client's notes Notes can determine whether a client can remain in treatment, whether Liberty gets paid, and can affect a client should their notes be subpoenaed for court, DCFS, or other legal issues so they should be appropriate and professional Notes must be completed by staff while on shift Education, Training and /or Experience Ideally possess current Peer Support Certification in the state of Utah, but not essential Ideally have knowledge of issues related to treatment of mental health & substance abuse Must have current driver's license and clean driving record

$16.00 - $19.00 per hour depending on experience and suitability Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
