They cultivate a welcoming, safe, and hospitable environment while modeling recovery, mutuality, and hope through the intentional use of their lived experience. Beyond direct peer support, this role emphasizes community engagement, hospitality, and long-term relationship building. Peer Support Specialists participate in outreach throughout the community to connect individuals with voluntary respite services and ongoing sources of support. At Lucid, we believe in a simple principle: serve what you source. Whenever possible, Peer Support Specialists who introduce someone to SafetyNet can continue supporting that individual throughout their stay, strengthening continuity, trust, and recovery. Successful applicants appointed into Lucid's Peer Residency begin their developmental journey as Peer Residents, where they receive structured supervision, co-reflection, and professional development designed to prepare them for advanced opportunities within the peer workforce.
