Regulated by the Department of Children and Families under Chapter 59, Derrick's House is a 10-bed Shelter Care facility that serves children ages 10-17 years old. Derrick's House mission is to provide youth a home in which they have the safety, security and nurturing environment that all children need and deserve. Located in Beloit's historic district, Derrick's House removes any feeling or stigma of being institutionalized and offers youth an opportunity to engage in activities that foster and promote their developmental growth. Derrick's House is seeking Youth Care Specialists. This position is responsible for the safety and supervision of youth ages 10-17 within a residential facility. Youth Care Specialists will be responsible for positive interactions with youth, maintaining ongoing documentation, medication distribution, transporting to activities and assisting with other daily functions. Youth Care Specialists are vital to the support and guidance of the youth in our care. Essential requirements of the position include the ability to communicate effectively with youth, ability to maintain composure during escalated interactions, proactively interacting with youth, and being detail oriented.
