Youth Service Specialist Boys II Men Transitional Living Home is seeking dependable, compassionate, and motivated Youth Service Specialists to join our team. This position provides direct care, supervision, guidance, and support to youth residing in a structured group-home environment. The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, professional, and comfortable working with youth who may have behavioral, emotional, mental health, or other support needs. Youth Service Specialists play an important role in maintaining a safe and supportive environment while helping residents develop positive routines, life skills, independence, and healthy decision-making. Key Responsibilities Provide direct supervision and support to residents while maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Ensure the safety and well-being of residents both within the group home and while participating in community-based activities. Administer and document medications in accordance with established policies, procedures, and each resident's medication plan. Complete accurate and timely documentation regarding resident behaviors, activities, incidents, progress, and other relevant information. Communicate important updates regarding residents' daily activities, behaviors, needs, and progress to the appropriate members of the treatment team, including case managers, care coordinators, social workers, guardians, and other authorized service providers. Encourage residents to participate in group-home programming, recreational activities, appointments, educational activities, and other services identified in their care plans. Promote compliance with house rules, expectations, daily routines, and individualized treatment or service plans. Follow each resident's individualized crisis, safety, behavioral, and treatment plans and respond appropriately during behavioral or emergency situations. Utilize appropriate de-escalation techniques and maintain professionalism when responding to challenging behaviors or crisis situations. Assist residents with developing independent living and daily life skills, including personal hygiene, household responsibilities, organization, communication, and appropriate community behavior. Transport residents to and from school, appointments, activities, family visits/passes, community outings, and other approved destinations as assigned. Monitor and appropriately document resident contact and communication with treatment-team members, legal guardians, family members, and other approved individuals. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and protect the confidentiality, dignity, and privacy of all residents. Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and organized residential environment. Participate in staff meetings, required training, and ongoing professional development. Immediately report safety concerns, suspected abuse or neglect, significant behavioral incidents, medication concerns, or other reportable events in accordance with agency policies and applicable requirements. Work collaboratively with coworkers, supervisors, treatment-team members, families, and community partners to support positive outcomes for residents. Perform other duties as assigned to support the daily operation of the group home and the needs of its residents. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. At least one year of full-time experience working in a formal program with the type of resident population served by the group home , or equivalent qualifying experience as applicable. Experience working with youth in residential care, foster care, behavioral health, mental health, social services, juvenile services, education, or a related setting is strongly preferred. Certification as a child and youth care worker through the Wisconsin Association of Child and Youth Care Professionals or another department-recognized certifying authority, when applicable. Must demonstrate the ability to remain calm, professional, and supportive when working with youth experiencing challenging behaviors or crisis situations. Strong communication, documentation, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents. Employment Requirements Candidates must be able to successfully complete all applicable pre-employment and regulatory requirements, which may include: Criminal and caregiver background checks, including fingerprinting when required. Pre-placement physical examination and TB screening/testing. Required orientation and training prior to independently performing assigned duties. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record if transporting residents is an assigned job responsibility. Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position and respond appropriately during emergency or crisis situations.
