Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Primary Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the agency's clinical and daily therapeutic schedule of rehabilitation services rendered for substance use. This role requires an understanding of substance use practices, evaluations, and effective counseling techniques. The Counselor will work collaboratively with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique needs. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess clients' substance use/misuse needs. Provide substance use counseling to individuals, particularly adult males with a substance use/misuse history. Maintain accurate records in compliance with the Alabama Department of Mental Health regulations and standards. Offer direct support to clients, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for their growth. Provide group and/or individual substance use counseling as needed. Collaborate with other professionals in the substance field to enhance client care. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client needs. Monitor client progress and adjust treatment strategies as necessary. Provide assistance in the development of relapse prevention and aftercare plans for clients successfully completing the program. Requirements A bachelor's or master's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is required; relevant certifications or licenses are preferred. Valid drivers license. Experience in substance use counseling preferred. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients and colleagues. Ability to provide direct support while maintaining professional boundaries. A commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of substance use.
