A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.
The primary clinician is responsible for completing assessments/intakes, group facilitation, maintaining a caseload and providing individual therapy for participants in PHP/IOP programs.
DESCRIPTION, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
Completes clinical assessments, treatment, case management, consultation, referral and education according to the individual's professional discipline. Services shall be provided in accordance with the established BHA and Joint Commission Standards as well as within the scope of practice of the individual. Conducts psychosocial evaluations and provide therapeutic interventions including crisis counseling to individuals, groups and families as needed to facilitate. Provides diagnostic assessment, treatment planning and completes necessary updates as required. Provides individual, family, and group service appropriate to client needs. Provides emergency services during work hours and after hours as assigned. Attends staff meetings; participate in clinical supervision, and other activities, which ensure the smooth functioning of clinical operations. Maintains positive relationships with referral sources and aftercare providers. Coordinates with Snowy Peak Recovery, LLC staff and other community providers in providing joint treatment as reflected in the treatment plan. Prepares needed reports of treatment as requested. Develops ongoing treatment plans through case staffing with the treatment team and interaction with assigned clients caseloads. Maintains case records to reflect the course of treatment and provide required documentation. Provides aftercare planning, coordinates with clients around all services. Provides consultation and education service to individual and community groups as requested and possible. Participates in agency program development activities Attends staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and other activities, which ensures smooth functioning of Snowy Peak Recovery, LLC's operations. Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director or Program Director.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, counseling or equivalent social services field Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) preferred Certified Sex Addiction Therapist ( CSAT) training and experience treating sex addition Attend regular professional education classes/workshops to continuously upgrade job skills or promote the image of the agency
