Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various therapeutic modalities and a commitment to providing high-quality mental health care. This role involves working with individuals and groups to address a wide range of Substance abuse health issues, including but not limited to trauma, addiction, and developmental disabilities. The therapist will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing evidence-based interventions in an inpatient setting. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine clients' mental health needs. Develop individualized treatment plans based on clients' unique circumstances and goals. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to enhance client engagement and promote positive change. Offer crisis intervention services as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients. Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions for diverse populations. Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and support clients' overall well-being. Participate in clinical research initiatives as required, contributing to the advancement of mental health practices. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in mental health counseling. Minimum QualificationsEducation One of the following: Associate's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Addiction Studies, or related field with CADC eligibility , or Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Addiction Studies, Nursing, or related behavioral health field, or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related behavioral health discipline.

Licensure / Certification

Preferred qualifications include one or more of the following: Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) Licensed Chemical Dependency Professional (LCDP) Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health (LPCMH) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Psychologist Individuals actively working toward Delaware CADC certification may be considered if eligible under Delaware regulations and receiving required clinical supervision. Delaware regulations also permit Counselor II positions for individuals working toward certification under supervision. Experience Minimum one year of behavioral health or substance use disorder counseling preferred. Experience with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT/OTP) preferred. Experience facilitating therapeutic groups preferred. Experience using electronic health records (EHR).
