A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field. 1-2 years of experience in substance abuse, behavioral health, or addictions treatment preferred. CADC or other state certification preferred; certification eligibility considered. Strong communication, counseling, documentation, and crisis-intervention skills. Knowledge of evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, and Motivationa l Interviewing. Ability to maintain HIPAA-compliant documentation. Must be available to work occasional evenings/weekends as needed.

Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans. Provide individual, group, and family counseling. Support clients with recovery and relapse prevention. Coordinate referrals and community resources. Maintain accurate clinical documentation. Participate in clinical staffing and team meetings. Join CRC and make a difference in the lives of individuals and families in our community.
