A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

We are seeking an individual with a master's degree in the human service field with counseling/case management experience. We are excited about our growing CARF accredited substance abuse (SA) outpatient program in our Lakeland office and need to find the right treatment provider to run our SA group(s). This can be very lucrative for the right person with the ability to earn up $225/hour depending on the size of the group. You get to supplement that with individual therapy earning $30.00 per billable hour. Families First of Florida is looking for a master's level clinician with experience in running groups (required), preferably substance abuse (note all groups are currently in person in our Lakeland office) To qualify, you must hold a master's degree in the field of counseling, social work, psychology, rehabilitation, special education and or a human services field (as this is a Medicaid requirement). In addition, a minimum of two years of professional experience in providing services to children and adults with behavioral illness or be under the supervision of a licensed practitioner of the healing arts is preferred. Specialties include trauma informed care, substance abuse, adoptions competency, child welfare and individual adolescent psychotherapy. Bilingual helpful but not a requirement.
