A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Job Description

Ascensa Health has been serving the Atlanta community for over 60 years; providing substance use and co-occurring disorder treatment to nearly 1500 individuals each year. Our staff provide clients with exceptional care and the highest quality treatment services. Currently, our agency is looking for qualified individuals that have an understanding of, and a passion for working in the behavioral health field. You are not a number to us! Duties include:

Facilitate psycho-educational/ Relapse Prevention groups for clients Complete BIRP notes for each client in group. Maintain a small caseload of Individual clients/ sessions Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in the Human Services field and experience working with Substance Abuse Disorders.

LMSW/ LAPC/ CADC-II
