What they do

A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Job Description

Complete and oversee specialized treatment planning for youth identified as at risk, suspected, or confirmed victims of sex trafficking. Develop and facilitate clinician-led psychoeducational groups focused on trafficking awareness, healthy relationships, grooming, exploitation dynamics, and self-protection skills. (youth participate as developmentally appropriate) Incorporate formal clinical assessments and individualized interventions into treatment planning. Provide the clinical expertise required for confirmed victims and consultation to direct care staff. Support family engagement and discharge planning consistent with the specialized residential requirements. Ensure the program maintains compliance with the expectations established for Idaho's specialized sex trafficking residential settings
