A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.
Mountain Comprehensive Care Center is hiring an Intensive Outpatient Therapist to serve adolescents experiencing difficulty with Substance Use Disorders.
PURPOSE:
To provide addiction services to individuals with substance use disorders.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide thorough psychosocial assessment of adolescent clients. Provide ongoing psychotherapy and IOP services to clients, including forming diagnostic impressions; identifying appropriate treatment modalities; developing and implementing treatment plans; and assisting the client with terminating services based on current best practices in the field. Identify appropriate ASAM level of care. Assist professional staff members in planning, coordinating and implementing treatment and development programs. May perform in a specialized program for MCCC and with the community in providing services. Conduct individual and IOP group services for SUD clients. Accurately document and maintain all records for the services provided to clients in accordance with MCCC program standards/policies and state/federal guidelines. Provide counseling, referral and resource information to clients and/or their families. Attend staff meetings and training conferences as required. Maintain contact with community partners. Work with other county team members in providing a comprehensive program. Adhere to all standards for quality of care for clients. This includes, but is not limited to treating clients with respect, maximizing continuity of care, seeking supervision as necessary, arranging for coverage for periods of absence, and maintaining all professional ethics. Therapist must be knowledgeable of, and adhere to, all MCCC policies and procedures. Provide other services as assigned by the Clinic Coordinator and/or Program Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
T-CADC, CADC, LPCA, CSW, LPA, MFTA, or equivalent required. Must have a valid Kentucky motor vehicle operator's license. IOP experience preferred.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to evaluate needs of clients. Knowledge of overall objectives and treatment concepts of substance use. Knowledge of rules, regulations, and laws pertaining to the care and treatment mental/behavior disorders and SUD clients. Good verbal and written skills; patience and flexibility. Ability to maintain accurate records and reports. Ability to communicate with others in a professional manner. An eclectic knowledge base.
