A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Position Overview:
Substance abuse counselor will be in charge with assisting patients through medically assisting treatments and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. Counselor conducts individual sessions and group sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Counselor will evaluate patients' progress during counseling and collaborate with doctors, nurses and other counselors to assist the patients' achieving overall outcome.
Responsibilities:
Assist with intake process Provide individual and group counseling services; direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment Facilitates, establishes and reviews with each patient the initial treatment plan Completes Bio-psychosocial assessment. Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans Other related duties as determined by supervisor
Qualifications:
Must hold a TCADC, CADC, CADCI, CADCII, LADC, or LCADC in the state of Kentucky Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals a plus Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population Knowledge of EMR preferred Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen
