A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Full Job Description Responsibilities:
PD position is responsible for promoting the Program Mission and philosophy of CSR to insure a safe and trusting environment to promote healthy recovery. . PD is responsible for complete overview of all management staff at CSR and provides administrative supervision to management staff. PD is responsible to stay with all compliance regs for any license program holds. PD is responsible to ensure patient and staff safety at all times and report to the Regional- Executive Director when a high risk situation occurs.
Qualifications:
• Minimum high school diploma. • preferred MA or BA/AS in management, health care, human services, mental health or substance abuse. Preferred LADC I or II Minimum 2 year in supervisory position Minimum 2 year in Substance Abuse treatment Knowledge of Pathophysiology, Diagnostic Assessment and Chemical Dependency treatment Familiar with community resources Knowledge of health care, detoxification process, addiction, co-occurring disorders and DSM Criteria preferred Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Familiar with regulations for BSAS, DMH and the joint commission We offer competitive compensation packages including benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
