A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Allentown Halfway Home facility. In this position, you will play a vital role in guiding individuals through their recovery journey. Responsibilities:
Counselors at all levels are expected to provide individualized therapeutic services in accordance with ASAM guidelines and the policies and procedures of TTI. Maintain a caseload, as assigned, up to the maximum ratio permitted by DDAP. Preparing materials for, and hosting individual and group sessions at defined intervals. Completing documentation timely and accurately, including addressing supervisor feedback. Assist with or perform utilization review, as assigned Attend trainings to meet the TTI annual requirements, as well as DDAP requirements. Counselors will be actively working toward certification or licensure and should look to attend trainings that directly assist in this process. Be trained in and participate in facility operations, as necessary. This may include assisting with medications, attending/monitoring client community activities, participating in staff meetings, etc. Participate in supervision with their supervisor, as well as group supervisions with peers Qualifications Associate's Degree in an approved field and minimum 2 years of experience in a health or human services agency OR Bachelor's Degree in an approved field and minimum 1 year of experience in a health or human services agency OR Master's Degree in an approved field and a completed qualified practicum Recent staffing regulations for counselors expanded acceptable Bachelor's degrees beyond 'related' human services such as counseling, psychology, social work or criminal justice to include anthropology, communications, nutrition, sociology, education, divinity and pastoral ministries.
