A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Job Description

If you have the desire and passion to counsel youth in addiction recovery, we will provide all extensive training and professional development.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY MOST BACHELOR'S DEGREES
QUALIFY, including Criminal Justice and Education. Substance Abuse Counselors work directly with our students to identify their rehabilitative needs while collaborating with our clinical team to develop individualized treatment objectives and plans. Counselors receive comprehensive training to become effective group and individual counselors to enable students with achieving their clinical goals. The position works Monday through Friday from 2:45pm - 10:45pm. No weekends. The Academy Schools also provides the training and supervision necessary to earn advanced addictions counseling certification through the Pennsylvania Certification Board. Opportunities for advancement exist within the first year, including promotion to a position that offers a four-day workweek . If you possess a bachelors degree, we encourage you to apply to have your credentials evaluated for qualification. Summit Academy will work with new staff to obtain licensure or certification through Pennsylvania Certification Board, including providing all required supervision and training. Applicants already possessing licensure or certification through PCB will be eligible for additional compensation. Individuals with athletic and/or military backgrounds will be strongly considered, as well as bilingual applicants. This position qualifies for Substance Use Disorder Loan Forgiveness Program!
