A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Job Description

Private not-for-profit D&A outpatient treatment program is seeking a D&A Treatment Specialist. Position provides drug and alcohol counseling to clients in our Carbon County Outpatient office location in Lehighton. PA. Position is full-time 40 hours, schedule Monday 8-5, Tuesday 8-5, Wednesday 8-8pm, Thursday 8-8pm and Fridays off. Candidate MUST possess minimum of BS/BA in Psychology/Sociology/Human Services and have over two-years direct drug and alcohol counseling experience. Working knowledge of ASAM, communication/computer skills a must, CADC preferred. Starting wage is $21.51 with required degree, however with a master's degree in chemical Dependency/Psychology/Social Work/Counseling increases to $22.58. There is a pay increase following successful completion of six-month probationary period. Position offers excellent benefit pkg incl. healthcare coverage paid at 90% for employee, disability & life ins., paid training, 15 paid holidays and other Paid Time Off earnings, plus generous 401K plan.
