The GateHouse is looking for a full-time Counselor to assist our Residential Extended Care facilities in Mountville, PA. We provide a great working environment that promotes a culture of personal and professional growth.

Clinical Supervisor Schedule:

Monday-Friday; must be available to work one evening a week 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Summary Statement:

The Counselor assists clients in making healthy decisions in matters affecting their future lifestyle. The Counselor will provide clients with the necessary means and motivation for individual growth, and continued recovery from substance (chemical) addiction within the framework of facility regulations. The Counselor is supervised by Clinical Supervisor. The Counselor offers a positive relationship, sets a good example, communicates an attitude of concern, listens, assists and displays a real belief in The GateHouse philosophy. The Counselor may be assigned additional duties and responsibilities by the Clinical Director or as deemed necessary. Duties and Responsibilities Intake evaluations and documented summaries. Biopsychosocial histories. Treatment plans and updates. Progress Notes.

Counseling:

Individual, Group, Family, aftercare, and documentation of all sessions. Maintaining Client files. Case Consultations at Gate House Staff Meetings and with outside agencies as needed. Discharge planning and written summaries. Discharge and follow-up. Follow-up includes telephone calls and letters according to the policy and procedure manual. Obtain client records from prior treatment experiences, medical records and any other useful written information that may assist ongoing treatment. Coordination with Case Manager regarding client needs. Involvement in community outreach projects. Audit files.

Managed Care:

Authorizations, Reviews and ASAM as needed. Crisis Intervention when appropriate. Specific Counseling Individual scheduled counseling : 1 hour sessions. Clients will be scheduled weekly by the Counselor for these sessions. Most of the focus will be on the treatment plans. Group counseling : two hour sessions, two times weekly.

Unscheduled sessions:

clients requesting to be seen by Counselor will be given specific times that the Counselor can meet with them. This will be based on assessment of importance.

Family sessions/workshop:

the Counselor will see individual families of clients at prearranged, scheduled times, and conduct Family Workshops according to annual schedule. Referral to other family counseling agencies will be made on an as-needed basis. Alanon, Alateen, COA, Naranon and other self-help organizations will also be emphasized.

Funding Reviews:

The Counselor collaborates with funding providers, completing ASAM assessments and confirming funding for clients. Miscellaneous 1. Coordinates with the Residential Program Supervisor for weekly "house meeting" and house activities 2. Co-counsels when deemed necessary. 3. Will attend all training offered by the Clinical Supervisor based on annual evaluations of needs.

Physical Requirements:

Qualifications:

Must meet Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs Staffing requirements which includes minimum: 1. Bachelor's Degree with a major relating to human services and 1 year of clinical experience.
