A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

CAADC REQUIRED
  • Earn up to $5,400 each month!
SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
  • Provide support, counseling, and case management services to clients
  • Coordinate care plans and collaborate with treatment teams and community resources
  • Conduct assessments related to mental health and substance use needs
  • Maintain clinical documentation.
CLIENT'S REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Healthcare, or a related field
  • Addiction certification/licensure preferred or required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders preferably in treatment, mentoring, or coaching.
  • Ability to complete and/or provide clearances: FBI-DHS Clearance, PA State Criminal Check & PA Child Abuse Check
  • Must be able to produce valid medical/health documents including: physical examination, Tuberculosis/TB Skin Test, CPR, and First Aid certification
