A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Job Description

The Pierce County Alliance has a full-time, in-person position available for a Substance Use Disorder Professional/Trainee Counselor. You will be responsible for but not limited to the following: Provide services to clients including screening, assessment, individualized treatment planning, group and individual counseling to the individuals.
Qualifications:
Must have a valid Substance Use Disorder Professional/Trainee License. Must pass a criminal background check and monitored urinalysis test; and no history of alcohol/drug misuse or abuse for a period of five years prior to employment. Must have excellent writing, organizational and communication skills; and be proficient on the computer. Must be willing to work evenings. MRT training is preferred.
Pay:
From $67,000.00 per year
