Job Description

New Way Short-Term Residential Treatment Program is looking for qualified, energetic and passionate staff to work with at-risk boys in Ventura County. New Way STRTP has been serving youth in Ventura County since 2008. We are a non-profit organization serving 12-18-year old's. We provide both short-term and long-term residential care in a supportive environment with caring and professional staff. At New Way STRTP, we create a safe, family-like atmosphere while teaching lessons of personal accountability, responsibility, anger management, conflict resolution, and other life skills. Our goal is family-reunification when possible, and when that isn't a possibility, we strive to prepare our youth to become competent and law-abiding adults. As a Joint Commission Accredited facility, New Way STRTP is hoping to bring you to the team and make a difference "one child at a time".

Child Care Counselor Job Shift:
Thursday thru Sunday Morning. Thur 10pm to Fri 8am, Fri 10pm to Sat 10am, Sat 10pm to Sun 10am. Many opportunities for more hours if wanted!
Education Level:
Bachelors related to area of work and/or 3 years experience working with At-Risk Youth Description The Child Care Counselor is responsible to assist youth and coach staff in providing a safe, compassionate, inviting, and therapeutic atmosphere. The Child Care Counselor (CCC) will be given a shift that suits their needs and the needs of the resident. Under the direction of the House Facility Manager the CCC will be in charge of maintaining a safe environment in which all of the needs of the residents are met. The Child Care Counselor will be responsible for some or all of the following duties: Ensuring constant supervision throughout the night hours Staying awake and alert with nightly task Ensuring home is in optimal standing Conducting regular check-in through the night (every half an hour) Communicating with management about key issues. Working to deescalate youth whom may be in crisis or having a hard time transitioning to bed Why you should apply Working with at-risk youth can be one of the most rewarding careers to be a part of. Experience:
A bachelor's degree in a related area is preferred, with one to two years of mental health experience. Working with at-risk and/or emotionally disturbed youth is a plus. The following are a few "

": Must be able to pass a DOJ and FBI background check Must hold a valid driver's license. Food Handlers Permit is welcomed. Be able to communicate effectively with other group home, schools, doctors, and all appropriate parties. Must be able to be at work on time, ready to work and avoid calling out.
