Full Job Description About Us:

Just Us 4 Youth (JU4Y) is a non-profit organization located in Pomona, CA. Our mission is to mentor at-promise communities to develop as people, scholars, and leaders. The On-Point program primarily takes place on partner school campuses and utilizes restorative practices to develop character, leadership, and social-emotional skills in youth. Through mentorship, creative curriculum, and restorative conversations, On-Point provides safe/brave spaces for students to engage in meaningful dialogue, build positive decision-making skills, and improve holistically.

Organization and Role Overview:

The School-Based Programming Initiative (SBPI) Ambassador serves as the primary on-site representative of Just Us 4 Youth at Pomona High School. The SBPI Ambassador is responsible for implementing youth development programming, restorative practices, conflict resolution services, student engagement activities, and referral support services that contribute to a positive school climate and improved student outcomes. The position works collaboratively with students, school staff, families, community partners, and the Department of Youth Development (DYD) to identify and support youth who may be at risk of disengagement, behavioral challenges, chronic absenteeism, homelessness, suspension, or other barriers to success. Position is based on availability of funding to organization and role overview. This is a temporary position through December 2026, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time pending funding.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Engagement & Relationship Building:

Build positive and supportive relationships with students through daily campus presence. Conduct outreach and engagement activities to increase student participation in SBPI services. Identify and engage students who may benefit from additional support and intervention. Maintain consistent communication with students and provide ongoing encouragement and mentorship.

Restorative Practices & Conflict Resolution:

Facilitate restorative circles, community-building activities, and youth engagement sessions. Support conflict resolution efforts by utilizing restorative practices and de-escalation techniques. Conduct mediation sessions between students and/or school staff when appropriate. Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.

Workshops & Youth Development Programming:

Facilitate workshops focused on: Leadership development Communication skills, Conflict resolution Life skills, Social-emotional wellness, Goal setting, and decision making Assist in the development of workshop materials, presentations, and participant activities. Maintain attendance records and program participation documentation.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of student participation, workshops, mediation sessions, referrals, and outreach activities. Complete attendance tracking, case notes, and program documentation as required. Assist with data collection and reporting requirements for DYD and organizational leadership. Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely and compliant manner.

Student Support & Referrals:

Conduct individual student check-ins and follow-up meetings.

Identify student needs and connect youth to school, community, and DYD resources. Support implementation of referral pathways for students requiring additional services. Monitor student progress and document outcomes related to referrals and support plans.

Family & Community Engagement:

Participate in outreach events and community engagement activities. Assist with parent and caregiver workshops and informational sessions. Build collaborative relationships with school staff, community partners, and families.

Program Operations:

Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities. Support implementation of the SBPI implementation plan and program goals. Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure contract compliance and program effectiveness. Perform other duties related to youth development, restorative practices, and student support assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, supportive relationships with youth, families, and school staff. Experience in mentoring, youth development, or working in educational settings. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage students and families effectively. Knowledge of restorative justice practices and conflict resolution techniques. Ability to lead group discussions, workshops, and activities that encourage academic and social- emotional growth. Ability to maintain professional boundaries while providing support and guidance to atpromise youth. An interest in and/or experience with youth development, social-emotional learning, or academic support.

Mental/Emotional Ability Requirements:

Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment, accept feedback, and manage competing demands. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others to resolve conflicts. Emotional resilience and the ability to support youth through challenging situations while maintaining a positive and encouraging demeanor.

Education and Training :

Bachelor's or Associates degree highly preferred. Degree in progress is acceptable (1 year minimum). At least 1 year of mentorship and restorative justice experience required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.

$30.00 per hour
