Residential Youth Counselor
COMMUNITY ACCESS NETWORK
is a 501 C 3 community organization, which believes that when provided with adequate support and the needed resources, families can identify and build on their strengths and be empowered to resolve their problems. The agency maintains highly qualified mental health professionals including: licensed therapists, social workers, psychiatrists, case managers, youth counselors, parent partners and peer support staff who provide services at our 5 locations. The agency achieves its goals of family and community empowerment by providing services in both residential as well as outpatient mental health programs. The agency is seeking qualified candidates for the Residential Youth Counselor position.

Summary:
The Residential Youth Counselor position is an integral member of the STRTP treatment team. This position is responsible for providing care and supervision while assuring a safe, structured and nurturing milieu. Further, the Residential Youth Counselor is responsible for providing client supervision during his/her entire shift. Duties are performed under the direction of the STRTP administrator but some tasks are accomplished independently.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree with 15 units in a behavioral science, 9 of which pertain to at-risk youth. One (1) year of Residential Youth Counselor/Child Care Worker experience preferred. Must be in good physical and emotional health and capable of performing listed job duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise, protect and care for children individually and while in groups at all times. Set limits for behavior and reinforce positive behavior while working within the guidelines of the current treatment plan with the guidance of the therapist, GH Social Worker and GH Administrator. Model appropriate and healthy behavior to assist the client in personal, emotional and developmental growth. Follow agency policy and procedures and protocols at all time. Know and understand the program rules, compliance guidelines, discipline practices and milieu management best practices. Assure daily logs are completed in a timely fashion and include all relevant information for antecedents, behavior, responses and interventions treatment goals. Provide guidance, redirection and/or interventions during times of conflict and escalated behaviors. Inventory client belongings upon entry and discharge from the facility/agency. Uphold All Community Care Licensing, County, and HIPAA regulations and confidentiality oaths. Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings Ability to interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with emotionally disturbed/ delinquent adolescents, staff and the public Ability to physically assist in lifting and carrying/moving furniture as necessary and as directed. Ability to visually and audibly assess adolescent's behavior and needs. Ability to walk and run to supervise active games with adolescents which includes, kneeling, bending and scooping. Operation of company vehicles. Contact with blood and or body fluids. Possible interaction with assaultive adolescents.
