As a Respite Counselor, you'll work directly with individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities while gaining hands-on experience you can take back to the classroom, your career, or whatever comes next. Work in a fun, active Camp atmosphere where you participate right alongside campers. What You'll Do No two weekends at Camp look exactly the same. As a Respite Counselor, you will: Supervise and support a group of campers throughout their weekend. Jump into activities, games, evening programs, and special events alongside campers. Get to know each camper's individual needs, interests, and abilities. Encourage campers to try new things, participate, and enjoy their time at Camp. Assist with personal care needs, including dressing, eating, toileting, brushing teeth, and showering. Support campers in getting to medications, meals, and activities on time. Work alongside other counselors, Nursing Staff, and Program leadership. Follow camper care plans, safety procedures, and supervision requirements. Communicate camper health, behavioral, dietary, seizure, injury, or other concerns. Complete required camper reports and documentation. Complete assigned rest-hour and rotating overnight cabin duties.

Respite Weekend Schedule Friday:

6:00-9:00 p.m.

Saturday:

7:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and 2:15-9:00 p.m.

Sunday:

7:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Assigned overnight cabin duties are completed on a rotating basis. Choose Respite Weekends that work with your school schedule and other commitments. This can be a great way to gain consistent hands-on experience without giving up your weekday schedule.

What We're Looking For:

At least 18 years old. Genuine interest in working with individuals with disabilities. Dependable, positive, and ready to be part of an active Camp environment. Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred, but not required. Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain through Camp. Mandatory Reporter certification or completion within 30 days. Willingness to complete required in-house training (paid). Physical Requirements This is an active, hands-on position.

Counselors must be able to:

Stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the Camp environment. Lift up to 50 pounds as needed while performing position responsibilities. Actively participate in camper care, activities, and programming. Already working in a school or studying education, healthcare, recreation, social work, therapy, or a related field?
