A Youth Counselor or Worker works with young people, primarily ages 13-18, to provide mentoring and support for dealing with problems. Works in a school or community-based program; may assist with referrals from parole or probation offices. Collaborates with teachers, family members, social workers and health care professionals to help young people facing challenges or crises.
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable case manager to provide case management services, crisis support, advocacy, and coordination of care for youth residing in our facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to youth during placement. Assist youth with life skills development, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and goal setting. Monitor youth progress and document behaviors, incidents, and achievements. Assist with discharge planning and transition services. Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and within required timelines.

Part-Time Position Summary:
The Case Worker is responsible for providing case management, support services, crisis intervention, and coordination of care for youth ages 6-17 residing in the emergency shelter care program. The Case Worker assists youth in achieving emotional stability, safety, permanency, and successful transition planning while ensuring compliance with Indiana DCS standards, Indiana Code requirements, and agency policies. The Case Worker operates within a trauma-informed environment utilizing Handle With Care practices and supports the facility's policy of No Physical Restraints, No Seclusion, and No Confinement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete assessments, service plans, and required documentation Develop individualized treatment and transition plans Coordinate services with DCS, probation, schools, therapists, medical providers, and community agencies Monitor youth progress and behavioral goals Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings Maintain regular contact with families and guardians when appropriate Assist with discharge and aftercare planning Advocate for youth needs and services
Youth Support Responsibilities:
Provide emotional support and crisis intervention Build positive therapeutic relationships with youth Assist youth with coping skills, conflict resolution, and problem-solving Support educational, behavioral, and social development Supervise and engage youth in daily programming and activities Promote a safe and supportive living environment
Crisis Intervention Responsibilities:
Utilize Handle With Care de-escalation techniques Maintain a calm, trauma-informed approach during crises Implement approved non-physical intervention strategies Follow agency policies prohibiting physical restraints, seclusion, and confinement Participate in post-crisis debriefings and safety planning
Documentation Responsibilities:
Complete case notes, incident reports, service plans, and progress reports accurately and timely Maintain confidential client records Document behavioral incidents and interventions before the end of shift Ensure compliance with agency, state, licensing, and DCS documentation standards
Minimum Qualifications:
In accordance with Indiana Code IC 31-27-8-2, a Case Worker shall meet one (1) of the following requirements: (1) Have a bachelor's degree. (2) Have an associate's degree and at least two (2) years of human services job experience. (3) Completed thirty (30) college credit hours from an accredited institution and at least four (4) years of human services job experience. (4) Have a high school diploma and at least five (5) years of human services job experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with children and adolescents in residential or shelter care settings Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention Understanding of child welfare systems and DCS regulations Experience with behavioral health documentation and service planning

CPR/First Aid Certification Handle With Care Training Mandated Reporter Training Trauma-Informed Care Training Medication Administration Training (if applicable)
