Afterschool Director
The Afterschool Assistant Facilitator supports the implementation of the school's afterschool program. Working under the supervision of the Afterschool Director and the day-to-day direction of an Afterschool Facilitator, the Assistant Facilitator helps create a welcoming and inclusive environment that supports homework completion, enrichment, recreation, and positive youth development.
Responsibilities:
Support Afterschool Facilitator in delivering engaging daily programming, including homework support, enrichment, recreation, and youth development activities.
Provide active supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of students during all program activities, transitions, and dismissal.
Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment that supports the participation and success of all students, including multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
Build positive relationships with students and support positive behavior through encouragement, engagement, and consistent expectations.
Support Afterschool Facilitators by preparing materials, setting up activities, and maintaining program spaces.
Assist Afterschool Facilitators with attendance and required program documentation and reporting.
Work collaboratively with Afterschool Facilitators and the Afterschool Director to support high-quality programming.
Participate in required orientation, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications -
Required:
Minimum age: 18 years.
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience working with children or youth in an educational, recreational, camp, afterschool, or other youth-serving setting.
Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
Qualifications -
Preferred:
Coursework toward a degree in education, child development, youth development, recreation, psychology, social work, or a related field.
Experience working with school-age children in an afterschool, summer, educational, recreation, or youth development setting.
Experience supporting students with disabilities in inclusive educational or youth development settings.
Experience working with multilingual learners and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole.
Terms:
Part-time, approximately 17 hours per week during the school year. Additional hours for required meetings, training, and professional development may be required.
