Job Description

Northeast Center for Youth & Families (NCYF) is seeking enthusiastic, dedicated Relief Residential Counselors to join our Residential Services team! Residential Counselors work closely with our residents in therapeutic group homes to guide them to success while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. If you are seeking meaningful and challenging work that will provide you with experience to help you achieve a degree in social work or another field of human services, we can provide that for you. You will work directly with youth to implement treatment plans, lead/model activities of daily living through effective use of structure and routine and support the treatment philosophy of the program, centered around the trauma-informed care model. A successful Residential Counselor with NCYF will have the ability to assess and evaluate situations, have a high level of initiative, and have knowledge of acceptable behavior as it relates to at-risk youth. They would also possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and can communicate efficiently with parents, schools, DCF, DMH, and other community supports. New employees will gradually assimilate in to the NCYF culture and we will work with you to help you develop your competencies so that you can fully enjoy our collaborative efforts.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent with experience in the field Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the principles of trauma informed care. Adult & Child CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred (we will train staff) Approved
CORI & DCF
background checks (preformed by the EEC) Approved driving background check Valid driver's license Reliable transportation required. Must be at least 21 years old.
