YWCA Minneapolis What You'll Do:

As a Beacons Center Youth Counselor , you'll provide direct service to participants in the Beacons Learning Center at Hmong International Academy. Beacons provides after-school academic and enrichment opportunities with a focus on inspiring youth to make positive decisions for themselves and their futures to students in grades K-5. Plan, prepare and facilitate/co-facilitate age appropriate and culturally informed educational activities utilizing and/or creating Youth Development curriculum Support in recruiting and maintaining program participant Help develop and maintain a safe learning environment that is student-centered, mission-focused, and accessible to a diverse student body Support communication and retention with participants and families Track program attendance daily and enter information into database on regular basis Participate in educational activities and trainings for professional and programmatic development including attending and participating in departmental and Beacons program team meetings Additional duties as assigned

You take personal responsibility for your actions Qualifications Required High School Diploma/GED One year of experience working with youth from low-income and inner-city families One year of experience planning and facilitating effective, structured groups Strong oral, written and presentation skills Ability to carry out duties independently, as well as in team setting Ability to work with a variety of cultures, backgrounds and perspectives Proficiency in Microsoft 365 CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain) Belief in the mission of the YWCA Minneapolis and able to convey its importance Why YWCA Minneapolis When you work here, you're joining a movement.
