Franklin Middle School, Minneapolis Public Schools /YWCA Minneapolis What You'll Do:
As a Beacons Center Youth Counselor, you'll provide direct service to participants in the Beacons Learning Center at Franklin Middle School. Beacons provides after-school academic and enrichment opportunities with a focus on inspiring youth to make positive decisions for themselves and their futures to students in grades 6-8th.- Plan, prepare and facilitate/co-facilitate age appropriate and culturally informed educational activities utilizing and/or creating Youth Development curriculum
- Support in recruiting and maintaining program participants
- Help develop and maintain a safe learning environment that is student-centered, mission-focused, and accessible to a diverse student body
- Support communication and retention with participants and families Track program attendance daily and enter information into database on regular basis
- Participate in educational activities and trainings for professional and programmatic development including attending and participating in departmental and Beacons program team meetings
- Additional duties as assigned
