TITLE:
Bilingual (Spanish-English) Afterschool Program Mentor
REPORTS TO
Firm Foundations Director of Programs
POSITION SUMMARY
The Bilingual Afterschool Program Mentor serves as a member of the Youth Development team and is responsible for delivering a broad range of activities for youth in the Afterschool Program which serves a Spanish Immersion School. He/She will plan and provide a nurturing and enriching program of afterschool activities in the areas of academic enrichment, personal development, leadership development, recreation, technology, arts/crafts, and college and career readiness.
REQUIREMENTS
1. High School diploma or GED and at least two years of verifiable child care or development experience in a similar environment required. 2. Experience working with youth in a group setting. 3. Demonstrated ability or interest in planning and leading activities for youth. 4. Must be bilingual - speaking both Spanish and English 5. First Aid/CPR Certification (must be obtained within 30 days upon hire if not current).
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides leadership to youth engaged in activities and acts as a role-model participant. 2. Serves as an example and role model to the youth served. 3. Shows genuine interest and concern for each youth's needs and general well being. 4. Leads and oversees assigned group of youth 5. Adheres to Firm Foundations' policies and procedures. 6. Develops and follows procedures to safeguard the health and safety of youth in the program. Ensures that there is visual supervision of youth at all times. 7. Assist with the distribution of meals. 8. Participates in staff training and regular staff meetings. 9. Handles youth disciplinary problems appropriately. 10. Establishes open communication and good rapport with each parent/caregiver. 11. Ensures appropriate data collection and correct record keeping for assigned youth takes place. 12. Assures that the facility is left in a clean, orderly condition. 13. Works extra hours in emergency situations.
SALARY:
$17.00/hr. Non-Exempt
POSITION TYPE
20-25 hours/week (Hours 2:00pm-6:00pm Monday-Friday)
