Mount Prospect Academy seeks a compassionate Youth Counselor to support at-risk youth in our Community & Social Services department. In this onsite role, you will provide daily supervision, mentoring, and life-skills coaching in a structured, trauma-informed environment. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you will help implement individualized treatment and behavior plans, support academic and therapeutic goals, document progress, and assist with crisis prevention and de-escalation. Responsibilities Provide daily supervision, support, and mentoring to at-risk youth in a residential/educational setting Implement individualized behavior and treatment plans as directed by clinical and educational teams Promote safety through active supervision, routine checks, and adherence to trauma-informed practices Assist with crisis prevention and de-escalation using trained intervention techniques Support youth in building life skills, social skills, and positive coping strategies Document observations, incidents, and progress notes accurately and in a timely manner Collaborate with teachers, clinicians, and other staff in multidisciplinary team meetings Model respectful communication and positive behavior at all times Assist with transportation, routines, and structured recreational activities Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities Required Skills Behavior management Trauma-informed care practices Crisis de-escalation techniques Treatment plan implementation Recordkeeping and documentation Basic counseling techniques Conflict resolution Group facilitation Mandated reporting procedures Safety and supervision protocols
