This position is funded through a grant award. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the availability and yearly renewal of grant funding and program needs. Position Summary Prevention Awareness Support Services (PASS) is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to serve as a Youth Mentor. The Youth Mentor provides structured, strength-based mentoring services to children and adolescents through individual and group interactions. Services are designed to support the development of social, emotional, behavioral, and daily living skills in accordance with identified goals and service plans. The Youth Mentor works collaboratively with youth, families, schools, community partners, and PASS staff to promote positive youth development, improve protective factors, and support healthy decision-making.
Essential Functions:
Direct Service and Mentoring Provide individualized and group mentoring services to youth referred to the program. Develop positive, supportive relationships with youth while maintaining professional boundaries. Assist youth in developing age-appropriate social, emotional, communication, and problem-solving skills. Support youth in identifying personal strengths and setting achievable goals. Reinforce positive coping strategies, conflict resolution skills, and healthy decision-making. Monitor participant progress and document outcomes in accordance with program requirements. Participate in meetings related to assigned youth as appropriate. Program and Administrative Responsibilities Complete required documentation, reports, case notes, and data entry accurately and within established timelines. Submit requests for youth needs, activities, or expenditures to the immediate supervisor for approval. Maintain regular communication with supervisors regarding participant progress, concerns, and service needs. Attend staff meetings, trainings, and other required meetings. Participate in Family and Children First Council (FCFC), Strong Families Safe Communities, and other community meetings as assigned. Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable federal, state, and organizational privacy requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Training and Professional Development The successful candidate must be willing and able to: Become familiar with and implement

concepts and skills. Obtain certification in Youth Mental Health First Aid. Complete PAX Tools training. Work through the process to Obtain and maintain the Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist (OCPS) credential or other credential required by PASS and funding sources. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education, human services, criminal justice, or a related field required. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children, adolescents, or families in a professional setting preferred. Demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships with youth and families. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Basic computer proficiency, including email, internet use, data entry, and electronic documentation systems. Additional Requirements Valid Ohio driver's license. Current automobile insurance. Must maintain an acceptable driving record and meet agency vehicle insurance requirements. Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the service area during scheduled work hours. Ability to safely transport youth as required by program activities, service plans, and program needs. Must be able to meet all agency requirements for transporting program participants. Ability to pass all required background checks and screenings, including any checks required by funding sources, licensing bodies, or applicable state regulations. Residence within a reasonable commuting distance of Logan and Champaign Counties. Preference may be given to candidates residing within approximately 45 minutes of the service area. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, based on program and participant needs. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive for extended periods. Ability to participate in recreational and community-based activities with youth. Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
