Non-Exempt General Summary:
• To function within the framework of the philosophy, mission and policies of CCN. • To facilitate and increase in the level of violence awareness, self-confidence, self-esteem and resiliency in children, and self-efficacy of the ability to prevent relationship violence in youth.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The incumbent must have a firm knowledge about the nature of domestic violence and its impact upon society along with an ability to work with diverse populations. They must also have clear communication and presentation skills; an ability to communicate the principles of victim advocacy, a commitment to the empowerment philosophy of the domestic violence movement and complete the PCADV state approved domestic violence training.
Childrens Counselor Essential Functions:
1. Provide children of violent households and teens involved in violent relationships with opportunities to identify and communicate their feelings
Key Tasks:
a. Schedule and provide individual counseling sessions b. Schedule and provide group counseling sessions 2. Provide opportunities for the child to gain self-confidence and develop supportive interaction skills Key Tasks a. Interact with various community groups to provide additional assistance and resources for children b. Work with community groups to provide positive activities and experiences to rebuild trust between parents and children 3. Assess clients needs and link clients to appropriate services and community agencies .
Key Tasks:
a. Interact with community groups to provide resources to clients and oversee updating of resources to meet tangible needs. b. Maintain one-to-one contact with service providers to ensure comprehensive and quality referral information. c. Develop effective strategies for client information gathering, maintenance and periodic review of files. 4. Tracks and documents service provisions Key Tasks a. Maintain intake information on each client b. Document need for service through a service plan c. Explain Counseling Agreement to parents and obtain required signatures prior to placing in child's file d. Compile statistics, etc., and submits appropriate reports in a timely fashion 5. Participate as a team member
Key Tasks:
a. Attend all required team meetings, training sessions and provide reports to fellow staff regarding program area as necessary b. Offer support and assistance to peer staff members c. Adhere to CCN Confidentiality Policy d. Maintain a professional manner at all times e. Must serve on hotline and on-call team f. May assume other VOCA-related duties as required g. Maintain access to reliable transportation h. Other duties as assigned Education and Experience Masters degree with an emphasis in counseling or social work is required

Full-time 40 hours per week
