Job Title Youth Enrichment Counselor / Driver General Description The Youth Enrichment Counselor / Driver supports the mission of YWCA by transporting children enrolled in the before and after school youth enrichment program at the YWCA Community Center Providence Campus. The Youth Enrichment Counselor / Driver must be a warm, sensitive, and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults and is willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with educational and developmentally appropriate philosophy. Essential Duties
  • Plans, supervises, and implements the daily program for assigned group under the direction of the Site Coordinator
  • Maintains the ordered arrangement, appearance, and learning environment of their assigned space
  • Assists in the ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of the children
  • Helps to gear the program to meet the individual children's needs with concern for their interests, challenges, special talents and individual style
  • Treats children with dignity and respect
  • Provides a positive role model for children to learn
  • Act in a professional manner at all times
  • Follow all requirements set by the Child Care Regulations, the Site Coordinator, and the YWCA.
  • Address parental concerns if the Site Coordinator is unavailable and bring those concerns to the Site Coordinator as soon as possible
  • Attends scheduled staff supervision meetings, and special events as assigned.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Site Coordinator
  • Complete a minimum of 20 hours per year of recommended training programs conducted by professionals in the field; professional conferences; courses at an approved institution of higher education; or similar activities such as classroom observation, reading relevant books and articles, etc.
  • Transports children to and from the YWCA Community Center to their schools located in Providence
  • Keeps vans in clean condition at all times
  • Makes weekly maintenance checks of the van and report findings to the Site Coordinator Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have obtained a High School Diploma or GED
  • Pass criminal background check
  • Experience working with children preferred but not required
  • Hold valid Rhode Island Chauffeur's driver's license
  • Must have a good driving record
  • Pass criminal background and insurance check
  • Have respect and consideration for the children being served at the Center Position Hours and Location M-F, 2-6pm.
