Rec-Res Provisional Counselor (RCP) Reports to: Designated Senior Rec-Res Counselor (SRC)
Status :
Non-Exempt. Dining with students and weekend rotations required.
Rotating Shifts:
Evenings run from 2:45p to 11:15p Non-School Days begin at
Discretion of Dir:
6:45a or 8:45a Nights begin at 10:45p for either 8 or 10 hours Must be 21 years or older
JOB SUMMARY
RCP is on probation for the first 90 days of employment with the full expectation that s/he attains RC1 status on the 91st day with an increased wage. This is a learning and growing time, and probation may be extended if training and on-campus performance do not meet expected standards. During this time the RCP will master knowledge in both the Student-Parent Handbook and the Employee Handbook as well as any supporting policies and procedures that trainers deem helpful. Shadowing and hands-on experiences will begin within the first two weeks of employment.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS
: 1. Completes required Orientation and Training modules successfully 2. Demonstrates a working knowledge of information in the Handbooks 3. Studies the Behavioral Improvement Plans (BIPs) of each student 4. Establishes positive and effective relationships quickly with students and staff 5. Exhibits an understanding of the importance of maintaining professional boundaries 6. Works with SRCs, RC2s and RC1s to implement meaningful activities for students 7. Observes and practices using de-escalation skills, interventions and consequences 8. Works with students to ensure campus areas are clean, orderly and presentable 9. Responds positively to a supervisor's request to perform other duties

QUALIFICATIONS
a. High School Diploma. Able to pass thorough background screening b. CPR & First Aid certified or successful completion within first two weeks c. Successful completion of LRA's Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training

a. Able to learn to observe student behavior interactions accurately b. Able to learn to safely apply de-escalation actions c. Able to learn to safely participate when behaviors require hands-on restraints d. Able to run and walk to keep eyes on a potential AWOL student
