POSITION TITLE

School Social Worker for the 2026-2027 School Year

JOB DETAILS

190 Days - Certified Salary Schedule

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Provides social work counseling to students and parents
• Participates in case conferences involving cooperation with other pupil personnel workers, school personnel and community agencies
• Makes referral to public or private agencies with appropriate follow-up
• Serves as a liaison between school, family, and community resources
• Serves as a source of information regarding community resources
• Maintains appropriate school records
• Provides written reports and communications
• Participates as a resource person for in-service training and planning
• Follows all federal, state, and local policies and laws in execution of duties
• Maintains prompt and regular attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned as related to areas of direct report

REQUIREMENTS

An individual is eligible for a Standard Professional certificate in the field of School Social Work based on meeting one of the following requirements: (i) Completion of a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution. (ii) Completion of a state-approved certification preparation program in School Social Work at the master's degree level - level five (5) - or higher. (iii) Submission of a valid State of Georgia Master Social Worker's or Clinical Social Worker's license issued by the Professional Licensing Boards Division of the Office of the Secretary of State, O.C.G.A. Title 43.
