Job Description
QA Automation Engineer Job Summary mPulse is seeking an Automation Engineer II who is highly skilled in building and maintaining automated test solutions, while also supporting manual testing when needed. This role will be embedded within project teams, actively participating in sprint cycles and release activities to ensure high-quality deliverables. The engineer will identify automation opportunities, design scalable test strategies, and take full ownership of maintaining and enhancing an existing automation framework using tools such as Playwright or Selenium. Duties & Responsibilities Perform manual testing as part of scheduled releases and sprint cycles — reviewing requirements, writing test cases, executing test plans, and logging defects Deeply understand each assigned project to develop meaningful test coverage aligned with business and technical requirements Identify and document automation opportunities across projects to progressively reduce manual testing overhead Maintain and enhance test automation framework (Playwright/TypeScript or Selenium WebDriver/Java) Utilize open-source tools or develop custom scripts for automating tests across back-end processing systems and front-end web-based GUIs Perform API testing using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, and Playwright; validate integrations, contracts, and data flows Provide direction and guidance on framework selection, tooling, setup, and testing strategy Aid in the development of acceptance criteria, test design, and automation recommendations during early project phases Define, document, and execute detailed test plans to exercise system functionality Use technical skills to troubleshoot UI, application, and backend/database issues Lead project review meetings, providing testing metrics/status and notifying management of critical failures and missed milestones Stay current on the latest QA trends and recommend improvements to efficiency, speed, and cost through research and innovation Create training documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions Use bug tracking software (e.g., Jira) to track and report issues Perform other duties as assigned Skills / Abilities / Experience Minimum 2 years of experience working on test automation frameworks Manual QA experience — test case creation, sprint participation, release testing, and defect management Required automation experience: Selenium WebDriver (Java) — strong proficiency required Playwright + TypeScript — experience with Playwright-based test automation Java test frameworks (e.g., TestNG, JUnit) — test execution, annotations, suite configuration, parallel execution, and data-driven testing Page Object Model (POM) design pattern with PageFactory Build automation tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle) — build lifecycle, dependency management, and plugin configuration CI/CD pipeline exposure (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) API testing experience using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or similar Database and SQL — ability to write and execute SQL queries for test data setup, validation, and debugging (e.g., MySQL, Postgre
SQL, SQL
Server, Oracle) Experience with Docker and Selenium Grid for remote/parallel test execution Understanding of Git and GitHub flow Familiarity with test reporting tools (e.g., Extent Reports, Allure) Understanding of all phases of SDLC, especially in an Agile/Scrum environment Healthcare domain exposure is a plus Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a relevant engineering field Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with QA team members and cross-functional stakeholders Passionate about quality and finding solutions in a fast-paced environment Ability to research, analyze data, and derive data-driven solutions Strong problem-solving skills, work ethic, integrity, and communication skills Possesses a basic understanding of mPulse's business and platform Physical Requirements Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
