Job Description

JOB Resume & Cover Letter Required.

The Roadside Litter Pick-Up Crew is responsible for maintaining clean and safe roadways by collecting and disposing of litter and debris from designated areas. This role involves adhering to safety protocols, operating cleanup tools, and collaborating with team members to ensure thorough and efficient work.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position. Employee must comply with all County and department policies, procedures, WAC's, or other regulatory bodies.
Litter Collection:
Collect trash, debris, and other litter from designated roadside areas, medians, and public rights-of-way.
Litter PatrolSafety Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, vests, and appropriate footwear.

Use caution when working near traffic and ensure adherence to safety guidelines for working on or near roadways.
Equipment Use and Maintenance:
Operate and maintain tools and equipment such as grabbers, litter bags, and safety cones.

Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
Reporting and Documentation:
Document and report hazardous waste, large debris, or illegal dumping sites to supervisors or relevant authorities.

Log daily activities, including areas covered and quantities of litter collected.
Team Collaboration:
Work cooperatively with other crew members to ensure efficient and thorough cleanup of assigned areas.

Communicate effectively to coordinate tasks and address challenges.
Environmental Stewardship:
Promote awareness of environmental protection and proper waste disposal by maintaining a clean and orderly work area.

Perform additional tasks as needed, such as assisting with community cleanup events Assisting Landfill Crew during inclement weather.

These responsibilities ensure a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing roadside environment while upholding environmental and public safety standards.

Physical RequirementsThe physical abilities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, write, hear, speak, and lift up to 50 lbs. of unequal weight. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, peripheral, and depth perception. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Working ConditionsWork is performed at the Grant County landfill and along county road right of way in a variety of weather and in conditions in which possible disagreeable odors are present. The work involves walking along county roads and picking up trash as well as cleaning up illegal dump sites throughout Grant County. Direct exposure to various weather conditions such as, but not limited to heat, cold, wind and rain are to be expected. The employee may also be around heavy equipment where special care in observing safe operating practices is required.
