SOMMELIERS

— Join the Compline team! Our 1,800-ft shop features a cellar-temperature selection of 1,200 wines from all over the globe, international guest star winemakers almost every week, and a great local following. A separate tasting bar in the front of the shop provides a "tasting room" experience for guests, where we pour local and international flights daily. The Wine Shop Sommelier role is responsible for pouring these tasting flights in a fun, informative manner, while promoting the sales of monthly wine clubs and retail purchases in the shop. This is a great position for someone with hospitality experience, who wants to continue learning about the world of wine, talk about more than one winery, and join the team at Napa's premier retail destination. Additionally, the Wine Shop Sommelier is responsible for fulfilling club and e-commerce shipments. Previous experience with online retail or wine club fulfillment is a plus! If you are motivated by crafting great guest experiences, rewarding curiosity, and selling wine, this is a great opportunity for you. We're looking for: Great sense of hospitality and guest engagement Solid foundation of world wine knowledge Experience in wine service in a hospitality/restaurant setting Help with setting up and executing regular events at the shop Help with monthly inventory Great handwriting is a plus. Compensation ranges from $24-28/hour depending on experience, plus tips and regular bonuses for wine club signups. This is a full-time position for 32-40 hours a week. Afternoon/evening availability from Wed-Sun is essential.

Requirements:

Minimum 2 year experience in hospitality, including restaurant service and/or winery tasting room. Recent wine education - WSET level 3, CMS Certified, or similar. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs regularly, Music taste that doesn't suck, Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe programs, Desire to create positive guest experiences, and a drive to sell wine!
