Competitive, based on experience About Us Bistro 83 is looking for a talented and dependable Sous Chef to help lead our kitchen team. We are seeking someone who is passionate about food, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in consistency, organization, and high-quality execution. Position Summary The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef/Kitchen Manager to oversee daily kitchen operations, support menu execution, lead prep and line staff, maintain food quality standards, and ensure a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen. This role is ideal for someone with strong cooking skills, leadership ability, and a desire to grow within a professional kitchen environment. Responsibilities Assist in managing daily kitchen operations Lead and support kitchen staff during prep and service Ensure food is prepared consistently according to recipes and standards Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, sanitation, and safety Help with ordering, inventory, receiving, and cost control Train, coach, and motivate kitchen team members Monitor prep levels and station readiness Assist with menu development, specials, and kitchen organization Enforce proper food handling and health department standards Step in for the Executive Chef/Kitchen Manager when needed Qualifications Prior experience as a Sous Chef, Lead Line Cook, or similar kitchen leadership role Strong cooking, knife, and organizational skills Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards Reliable, punctual, and professional Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
