Job Description

Spec. Ed. Diagnostician -
POSITION TITLE:
Special Education:
Educational Diagnostician/Support Team Member
LOCATION
POSITION SUMMARY:
Work with school psychologists to assess students who have been referred for special education services utilizing tests of academic achievement as directed. Generate reports reflecting testing observations and achievement testing results. Adhere to standardized protocol for administering all MTeam assessments. Coordinate schedules with the school psychologist and other MTeam members to ensure that evaluations are completed in compliance with state and local Conduct and record observations on students as directed by school psychologists. Serve as Teacher of Record (TOR) for individual cases as needed. Work collaboratively with general and special education staff, building level administration and central office administration to support the needs of students with disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Indiana Special Education Teacher License in Mild Intervention or the equivalent. At least five years of successful classroom experience in special education is preferred Master's Degree in Special Education preferred Desired Experience and/or
Training:
Experience in conducting standardized assessments and the interpretation of local instruments used to assess achievement. Demonstrated ability in using technology to support the assessment process, writing reports, and sharing of web based information. Experience with diagnostic procedures and the scope and sequence of providing interventions as part of differentiated instruction and the MTSS process. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form. Demonstrates good organizational skills. Documented history of preparing appropriate and compliant Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Knowledge of IDEA, Article 7 and local SBCSC special education procedures. Working knowledge of SBCSC curriculum for grades K-12. History of demonstrating the ability to work cooperatively with the multidisciplinary Experience teaching in a primary center preferred. Evaluation status of Highly Effective or Effective on his/her most recent performance evaluation. History of timely and accurate submission of IEPs. Experience in maintaining high expectations for student performance and in evaluating individual student data to make a recommendation for his/her LRE (Least Restrictive Environment). Ability to maintain confidentiality. History of daily attendance and punctuality. Demonstrated classroom management skills.
Duties:
Administer and interpret various assessments, including but not limited to measures of academic achievement. Prepare and submit reports of these findings, in a specified format, to the evaluating psychologist. Maintain records of any/all assessments, observations throughout the academic year. Work with school psychologists and building personnel to assist in gathering the data that school psychologists will need to determine if there is a potential need for reassessment to evaluate for initial eligibility, continued eligibility and/or additional special education eligibility areas. Provide ongoing support for building staff to address instructional and behavioral issues specific to individuals with disabilities and other diverse learners. IEP review, training and support for IEP software Perform all additional duties associated with being a member of a support team.
