Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher in a self-contained behavior classroom. This full-time, contract opportunity runs from early August 2026 through late May 2027, with three positions available to empower students in 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade settings. Your expertise will make a direct impact on learners who face behavioral challenges, helping them reach their full academic and personal potential. You'll work with a small group of 10-15 students per classroom, most of whom qualify under Other Health Impairment (often ADHD and ODD), Autism, or Emotional Disabilities. These students are cognitively capable but require extra support due to behavioral difficulties that impact their learning performance. Your role will involve maintaining a structured, positive environment and implementing evidence-based behavioral strategies to support student growth. Ideal candidates bring experience working in self-contained behavior programs for elementary students and possess a deep understanding of the unique needs in such settings.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Valid educator certification (must be present with application) Current IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (must be present with application) Previous experience in a self-contained behavior classroom, preferably at the elementary level Expertise in managing and supporting students with ADHD, ODD, Autism, and/or Emotional Disabilities Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
