Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a lasting impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting students with intensive behavioral needs in a self-contained classroom. This contract opportunity offers a chance to work exclusively onsite at a dedicated Intensive Learning Center, providing individualized instruction to students requiring high levels of support. With multiple positions available and an openness to candidates pursuing their New Mexico licensure, this role is ideal for educators dedicated to fostering student growth through specialized strategies.
Key Qualifications:
Holds (or is pursuing) New Mexico teaching licensure in Special Education Previous experience working with students with significant behavioral challenges strongly preferred Skilled in adapting curriculum and implementing positive behavior support plans Effective communication and collaboration with educational teams, families, and specialists Ability to remain patient, flexible, and proactive in a dynamic classroom environment
Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction to a self-contained caseload of students with intensive needs Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student Employ evidence-based behavioral strategies and track student progress Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and staff to integrate academic and behavioral supports Foster an inclusive, structured classroom climate that encourages student success Maintain compliance with educational policies and state regulations
