Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Lead meaningful change in a dedicated special education classroom supporting young learners with significant needs. This contract opportunity is located near Stillwater, MN, running from late August 2026 through early June 2027. You'll be working full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, within a center-based classroom designed for students in kindergarten through second grade. This setting focuses on students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), offering a collaborative environment alongside passionate paraprofessionals and supportive staff. You'll have a small caseload of approximately six students, providing comprehensive academic, behavioral, and functional support.
Qualifications:
Current Minnesota Special Education Teaching License Preferred:
ASD, DCD, ABS, or cross-categorical licensure Background in supporting students with autism and developmental disabilities Skilled in IEP development, data collection, and individualized interventions Strong experience with behavioral support and structured classroom routines Ability to collaborate with related service providers and families
Preferred Experience:
Previous work in a center-based autism classroom Experience with AAC devices and sensory regulation techniques Familiarity with functional skills instruction
