Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Inspire and support young learners with significant behavioral needs as a contract Special Education Teacher in a dynamic and highly supportive K-2 setting. This role offers the opportunity to make a profound difference by providing direct instruction, intervention, and guidance for approximately six students in a center-based Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) classroom. With the backing of a skilled team and resources, you'll take on a key leadership position within a high-support environment.
Key Qualifications:
Current Minnesota Special Education Teaching License required EBD licensure highly preferred Demonstrated experience supporting students with behavioral challenges Skilled in developing and implementing IEPs and BIPs Expertise in behavior intervention, de-escalation techniques, and classroom management Strong ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with colleagues and related service providers
Preferred Experience:
Background in K-2 center-based special education settings Familiarity with PBIS, CPI, and restorative practices Understanding of trauma-informed instructional strategies
Responsibilities:
Lead instructional and behavioral support for a small K-2 classroom with high needs Design, monitor, and implement individualized education and behavior plans Collaborate with paraprofessionals, families, and staff to foster student progress Maintain a safe, positive, and structured classroom environment Adapt and differentiate lessons to engage all learners Contribute to a collaborative team approach for comprehensive student support This is a full-time, Monday-Friday position aligned with the school year calendar, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
