Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, providing vital educational services to high school students. This full-time role centers on supporting students in grades 9-12, empowering them to thrive academically and personally within an inclusive setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver instruction and behavioral support tailored to individual student needs Adapt curriculum materials to facilitate access to general education content Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Promote inclusion by supporting students in the least restrictive environment Engage in collaborative planning and problem-solving with general education teachers and support staff Maintain consistent communication with families regarding student progress, goals, and achievements Foster a positive, student-centered, and inclusive classroom environment
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required; Master's degree preferred Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Learning Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS1) endorsement Solid understanding of
IDEA, FAPE, IEP
development, and effective behavior management strategies Experience supporting students with a wide range of disabilities, including learning, emotional, or developmental needs Strong skills in communication, organization, and teamwork Familiarity with assistive technology and current inclusion practices is advantageous You'll have the chance to make a lasting difference in the lives of your students, partner with passionate educators, and help build a culture of respect and achievement.
