Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a pivotal Special Education teaching role for the Extended School Year (ESY) program taking place in summer 2026. This contract opportunity supports multiple school sites within Bucks County, offering a rewarding chance to impact students with moderate to severe needs across several communities. The ESY program runs from late June through July, providing services Monday to Thursday each week, with a focus on exceptional educational support. You'll participate in a comprehensive orientation and setup window prior to the start of instruction. Your classroom assignment—matched to your skills and experience—will be provided in late spring. While every effort is made to place teachers close to home, assignments are ultimately determined by student needs and school requirements.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
Valid Pennsylvania Special Education certification or an Emergency Permit with active enrollment in a certification program. Demonstrated experience or confidence working with students who have moderate to severe needs and managing challenging behaviors. Strong commitment to attendance and punctuality; reliable transportation required. Must live within a 35-minute commute to assigned school location. Full availability for ESY schedule (June 23 to July 30, 2026), including setup and instructional days. Ability to provide professional references and proof of credentials.Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction to support students' IEP goals. Implement behavior management strategies to foster a safe, positive classroom. Collaborate with colleagues, aides, and related service professionals. Track and document student progress and communicate regularly with families. Adapt teaching methods based on student needs.
